Students in grades 6 through 8 are placed in leveled math classes. Math centers are used at the lower levels to allow students the opportunity to explore the whole group skill at their own pace with follow-up hands-on activities.
Student groupings for other content areas in 5th-8th grade are intentionally mixed level to allow for peer editing and small group activities that are beneficial to students with a variety of academic understanding.
The reading curriculums used in Kindergarten through 5th grade include leveled readers with the same vocabulary as the weekly whole group story that are used for smaller reading groups; on level, above level, and below level.
We have a Scholastic Bowl team that competes academically against other private schools throughout the school year.
Teachers of 6th through 8th graders introduce and implement Document Based Questions (DBQ) materials which are engaging inquiry-based units that inspire clear, evidence-based, argument writing. Find out more about DBQ materials.
